Intuitive Foundation Collaboration

Intuitive Surgical and the Intuitive Foundation proudly support educational programs focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Intuitive Foundation has collaborated with HCC to provide our high school students with hands-on experience understanding the role of engineering and robotics in healthcare. As Intuitive engineers, on behalf of the Intuitive Foundation, travel the country demonstrating robotics to surgeons and hospitals, they make time to also meet with HCC high school students and their medical student mentors.

Preparing for the Intuitive robotic surgical device demonstration experience:
Prior to meeting with engineers from Intuitive, medical student mentors prepare high school students with a case-based curriculum emphasizing surgical anatomy and the role of robotics in the operating room.

After studying the surgical cases with medical student mentors, high school students are ready to meet with Intuitive engineers who demonstrate robotic devices that save lives in the operating room and inspire high school students to consider careers in bioengineering.

This brief video documents one of the Intuitive mobile visits to an HCC high school in Philadelphia. Intuitive is providing this experience to HCC high school students from low-income and underrepresented communities around the country.
